3+ years of experience including use in astrophysical research and two college courses, of which one was at the graduate level. Proficiency includes general syntax and functions, data analysis, beginner-level machine learning, and packages such as NumPy, Jupyter Notebooks, and Matplotlib.
MATLAB
Skills developed through weekly training sessions during a Differential Equations course that focused on functions dealing with matrices, ordinary differential equations, and the SIRS model. Tools used include basic plotting and pplane8.
German language
Intermediate-level German proficiency developed through the University of Louisville's German program and further supplemented by Duolingo.
Employment
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, October 2019 - December 2022
Student researcher working with Dr. Benne Holwerda to study edge-on galaxies. Employment funded by the NASA-Kentucky Space Grant beginning in August 2021. More information on the projects on which I worked can be found in the "Research" section.
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, August 2021 - December 2022
Undergraduate teaching assistant at the University of Louisville's Department of Physics and Astronomy. Course assignments included the Introductory Astronomy Laboratory and Introductory Mechanics course (lecture and three recitation sections) which introduced non-physics majors to astrophysical concepts and techniques.
ESA/ESTEC Science Intern, June – August 2021
Internship through the European Space Agency's European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), as part of the Leiden/ESA Astrophysics Program for Summer Students (LEAPS) 2021. Our project, "Studying the brightest galaxies in the early Universe", was conducted during this time. More details can be found in the "Research" tab of this site!
United States Army, December 2008 - January 2021
Served as a noncommissioned officer of the United States Army Military Police Corp. Military occupational specialties include certification as a Military Police Officer (31B) and Internment/Resettlement Specialist (31E). Enlisted time includes six years in the Army Reserves, one deployment, and five years on active duty.
